A hot and humid 38c February day in 2008 saw me awaken from the fog I had let myself be enveloped by - called obesity. That day I felt myself dying..... I had to take drastic action to rid myself of my obesity demons so a phone call to Perrin Durmush at Life Weight Loss Centre became my turning point. Two weeks later and I had the pleasure of meeting Dr Durmush & his wonderful and supportive staff for the first time. That appointment was the beginning of a rocky but successful road to obesity recovery & regaining my life. A small hiccup (a large uterine tumour and hysterectomy) saw me not having my surgery completed in April, 2008 but I was determined to make this procedure my saving grace. I took a little time to recover from my surgery & then visited Dr Durmush again in September, 2008, insistent on having the sleeve gastrectomy that we both knew would bring me a new lease on life. Success at last on 3rd October, 2008 and to date I have lost 56kg and maintained that for the past 3 years. I have dedicated myself to spreading the word of sleeve gastrectomy to as many people that I get the opportunity to talk to and I have also been able to help my sister Linda Goss lose 45kg so far through sleeve gastrectomy surgery. The defining moment for me though came this year when my 26 year old son Matthew had his sleeve gastrectomy surgery on 22nd January. As a parent you never want to see your child or children suffer and Matthew had suffered throughout his school life as a "big boy". I have been able to support him on his weighht loss journey and I am so proud to say that since January this year till November he has lost an amazing 71kg. He has gained more than just better health, he has regained the person within and has become a better person for taking the journey. Matt you make me so proud son! At my maximum weight of 136.5 Kg my destined journey began!! After a very tough three years and two brain surgeries later, finally the penny dropped.It was time to heal myself. To my advantage my sister Kathy had previously encountered this wonderful family at Life weight loss centre with extreme success and encouraged me to consider the same. After thirty years of struggling with my weight just like that yo yo, I reached my peak!! On the 9th Feb 2011 my journey began and my family and I have never looked back. It has been 8 months since my Sleeve Gastrectomy and have not found any problems what so ever. The most amazing experience during this journey is the normality of life now and the energy that life now bring to me and my family. On the 5th September 2008 Life weight Loss Centre changed my life forever... At 162.2kg I was at my heaviest and only 32 years old with 3 young children. I had always been overweight and never let my weight stop me from doing what I wanted to do, but it inhibited me in so many ways! From deciding which chair to sit in (in case my butt didnt fit), to having to go sideways through turnstiles or avoid them where possible. There had been many incidents, however the final straw came after going on a family holiday to a theme park and having to get off the ride in front of everyone as the lock wouldnt connect. After a recommendation from a family friend, I sought help from life weightloss centre! From the moment I walked into the waiting room, I knew I had made the right decision, everyone was so lovely, knowledgeable and helpful. Soon after I underwent the Laproscopic Sleeve The surgery was far less intrusive than I had thought it would be and I was up and about in no time! Over the next 2 years I lost 82kg... More than most of my friends actullay weighed! I have gone from a Size 28 to size 14!!! Something I had never even imagined possible, let alone achievable, even as the weight was dropping my fat brain was telling me I would fail, that I would never make it, that it wasnt possible! I I started to exercise and couldnt believe how easy it was, I felt as light as a feather and exercise came so easily! This had never happened before, I HATED exercise! To this day I still cant believe I enjoy it! People I know still cant believe its me when I bump into them after not seeing them for long periods of time. My children and husband are enjoying a much healthier , more active mum! And me, well I'm loving life and living it to the max, My weight has remained stable for over 12 months now and I couldnt be more grateful to the entire team at Life Weight Loss Centre, they have given me the tools to be the best me I can be!
